The REAL reason we are obsessed with our guns
I recently posted to social media an article that had the headline " The reason we are obsessed with guns" and it was some really bad postulating. After some thinking I wanted to share my thoughts. I believe it comes down to a double edged sword that we are obsessed with - freedom and self-determination. Freedom - to not have anyone doing bad stuff to us; self-determination - the ability to go out and do good stuff for ourselves. Gun ownership is the protective umbrella that stops those that would infringe on those two principles by protecting from a tyrannical government, outside invaders and the criminal. This three-headed beast is the monster against which mankind has always fought and our founding fathers recognized the innate need of the nations' citizens to be able to have efficient tools to fight it. It is not hard to find examples of where the 3 headed beast has crushed people. Foreign invaders sweeping in and killing, raping and pillaging. ...
